Golf gifts, by budget.
You rarely know a golfer's swing when you buy a gift. These are the balls and grips our fitting ranks first most often, grouped by what they cost at launch.
How these picks are chosen
We ran the fitting's own ranking on 44 test golfer profiles, which span handicaps 0–36 and swing speeds 65–120 mph, and counted how often each ball and grip comes out first. “Ranked first for 5 of 44” means five of those profiles put it first. It is a count over our test profiles, not a claim about all golfers.
Only products still made are listed. Prices are launch prices from our catalog, not today's. Balls are priced by the dozen and grips one at a time. A product with no launch price in the catalog is left out of the price groups.
Some shop links earn us a commission if you buy. It costs you nothing extra and never changes what we recommend. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Not sure of their swing? Send them a fitting
The fitting is free, takes about two minutes and needs no account. They answer a few questions and get picks for their own swing.
Clubs need a fitting: a driver or putter bought blind often doesn't suit
Swing speed, launch and the golfer's usual miss all change which driver or putter is right, so we leave clubs off this list.
Golf gift questions
What's a good golf gift if I don't know their handicap?
A dozen balls or a fresh grip is the safer buy, because it costs far less than a club and is easier to get a little wrong. The lists above show the ones our ranking puts first for the most of our test golfer profiles, which cover a wide spread of handicaps. If you want it to be right for them, send them our free fitting instead: it asks their handicap, swing speed and miss, and ranks the whole catalog for them.
Are premium golf balls worth it as a gift?
It depends on the golfer, and a higher price does not mean a higher rank. Our ranking matches a ball's cover, compression and spin to a golfer's handicap and swing speed, so a premium ball suits some golfers and not others. The over-$50 group above is there for a bigger budget, not because it is better. Prices shown are launch prices from our catalog, so check today's price before you buy.
Should I buy someone a driver as a gift?
Usually not without a fitting. A driver depends on the golfer's swing speed, launch and usual miss, and two golfers can need different heads and shafts. One bought blind often doesn't suit. If you know which driver they play, our driver check scores it for their swing, or you can send them the free fitting and let them choose after it.
