Grip size

What grip size do I need?

Give your hand length or glove size. We tell you your grip size from Golf Pride’s chart, then show the three grips our free fitting ranks first for you.

Your hand

Using your upper grip hand, measure from the crease of your wrist to the tip of your middle finger. Give one or the other. If you give both, we use your hand length.

Your swing and budget

Tempo, miss and budget are optional. Only a slice, a hook or an inconsistent miss changes which grips come first, so other misses are left out.

About this finder

How it works

One size rule and one ranking, used everywhere on the site.

The size comes from the same rule as our full fitting, which reads your hand length or glove size against Golf Pride’s size chart. The grips come from the same ranking: each grip in our catalog gets a match score out of 100 with the reasons behind it, and the three highest are shown. There is no model and no rule of our own on this page.

The size is a starting point. A chart cannot feel how a grip sits in your hands, so try a grip before you buy a set. Prices shown are launch prices from our catalog, not today’s.

How do I measure my hand for a grip?

Use your upper grip hand. Hold it flat and measure from the crease of your wrist to the tip of your middle finger. Enter it in inches. We read it against Golf Pride’s size chart: under 6.6 inches is undersize, 6.6 up to 7.6 is standard, 7.6 to 9 is midsize, and over 9 is jumbo.

What if I'm between sizes?

When your hand is within a tenth of an inch of the line between two sizes, the result says so. Golf Pride’s advice for that case is to add 2 to 4 wraps of tape under the grip to make it a little bigger. We give one size, the one the chart gives for your measurement, and do not pick a size on feel.

Can I use my glove size instead?

Yes, if you do not want to measure. We map each glove size to a row of Golf Pride’s chart, for example a men’s medium to standard and a men’s large to midsize. If you give both a hand length and a glove size, we use your hand length. Men’s XL is listed under both midsize and jumbo by Golf Pride, so we give midsize and tell you to measure your hand to decide. A women’s XS is in Golf Pride’s junior range, and undersize is the smallest adult size, so that is what we show with a note.

How are the three grips chosen?

With the same ranking as our full fitting. A grip can earn up to 78 points. A swing tempo sets the firmness we look for: smooth looks for soft, aggressive for firm, and moderate or none for medium. A slice or a hook looks for a reduced taper, and a slice or an inconsistent miss looks for an aggressive texture. All-weather grips and certain materials score a little more for everyone. A budget keeps out grips in a dearer price tier, and a grip that comes in your size scores up to 5 points more. That is a small part of the score, so a top grip may not come in your size: if so, the reasons say it is not made in that size. Prices shown are launch prices from our catalog, not today’s.
