Privacy policy

Overview

FitMySwing is a free AI-powered golf club fitting tool. We're committed to transparency about the minimal data we collect and how we handle it.

What We Collect

  • Fitting form inputs — swing speed, handicap, equipment, preferences, and optionally launch monitor data. These are stored in your browser's session storage and sent to our API to generate your report.
  • Generated reports — your fitting report is stored on our servers (via encrypted Redis) so it can be shared via a unique link. Reports are retained for 90 days.
  • IP address — used solely for rate limiting (15 fittings per day). IP addresses are hashed before use, kept only for the 24-hour rate-limit window, and not stored with your report.
  • Browser ID cookie — a random identifier (fms_anon) that lets us show your recent fittings on this device. It isn't linked to your name and isn't used for advertising.
  • Email address (optional) — if you choose to save your report via email, we store your email address and link it to your report ID. If you opt in to marketing, we may send occasional product updates; the report email then has a “Stop marketing emails” link, and using it records that you withdrew. Your email is retained for 1 year and never shared with third parties.
  • 30-day follow-up (optional) — only if you tick “Email me in 30 days to ask how the clubs are working out” when you save a report. We store your email address, your report ID, the clubs we recommended, when and which wording of the checkbox you agreed to, and a hashed one-time link token. We send you one email about 30 days later asking whether you bought a club and how it is going, and keep your reply (a yes/no answer, an optional 1 to 5 rating, club name and comment) to check whether our recommendations hold up. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. We delete your email address and token 90 days after sending, or straight away if you unsubscribe; your reply is kept without your email address, so it can no longer be tied to you.
  • Basic analytics — we use Vercel Analytics, which collects anonymised page view data (no cookies, no personal identifiers). See Vercel's privacy policy.

What We Don't Do

  • We do not require an account or collect your name or email (unless you opt in to save your report).
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
  • We do not use tracking cookies or advertising pixels.
  • We do not take payment from golf equipment brands. Some retailer links are affiliate links; if you click one, the retailer may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
  • We do not store your data beyond what's needed to deliver the service.

AI Processing

Your fitting data is sent to an AI model via a third-party API (OpenRouter) to generate recommendations. The data sent includes your swing metrics, equipment, and preferences — no personal identifiers. We do not use your data to train AI models.

Data Retention

  • Session storage data is cleared when you close your browser tab.
  • Shareable reports are retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
  • Email addresses (if provided) are retained for 1 year.
  • 30-day follow-up: the email address and link token are deleted 90 days after the email is sent, or when you unsubscribe. Your reply is kept without them.
  • Rate-limit records expire after 24 hours.

Your Rights

You can request deletion of a specific report by contacting us with the report URL. Since we don't collect personal identifiers, there is no “account” to delete.
